Perpetuum Jazzile - Africa (live, HQ)

I was transported by the sound.  Imagine! ---being able to create this sound with human voices working together.  Make music not war....

Amazing!!!  The sound started before the video did and I would have sworn I was hearing a thunder storm!  The music was beautiful.  Thanks Mimi

Oh, my!  This was so inspiring, and organically beautiful.  Thank you so much for sharing this video, mimi.  The spontaneous eruption from the audience at the first clap of thunder was so magnificent.  Wow … what a great video.

“make music not war” indeed

THANKS, maze,Judi, and nancy for stopping by and leaving a comment.  I love this version so much.  My grandchildren were over here and listened to it 5 or 6 times and tried to sing along.  They are 8, 5, and 3.  I found these lyrics and printed them up for Alex who is 8 so he could teach them to his two sisters.  Maybe you would like to SING ALONG! (I do ;>)))

Africa lyrics
Songwriters: Paich, David; Porcaro, Jeff;

I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in the 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation

I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say
“Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you!”

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
Sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti

I seek to cure what's deep inside
Frightened of this thing that I've become

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa, I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa, I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
