If you were a color, what would you be?

Deep-purple
Deep Purple.  This is the colour I discovered many years ago  during acupuncture treatment.  As I relaxed, colours swirled in my mind's eye till it burst and pinnacled at deep bright purple.  It enfolded me in waves of bliss.  Lucky for me, I can produce it myself by just "going to the purple", and have used it for/during meditation, and to make me fall asleep.  I AM deep purple.  I hope this is the last color I see as I draw my last breath. It will be blissful and happy.

What was the first thought that crossed your mind this morning?

Clock1
That I always wake up at 7:50 am.  Automatically, no matter what time I go to bed at night which is usally between midnight and -2 a.m.  Weird thing is that I wear a Serenity Sleep Mask, dark blue, thick with many small magnets in it and I  can't see a damn thing even the morning light.  So what it is that wakes me up at the exact same time each morning?

I was confused THIS morning because I had forgotten to change my clocks 1 hour ahead, so it was it was 8:50.  I wonder what the clock will read tomorrow morning when I wake up... will it be 7:50 or 8:50?

PLUM TEA

Posted on Mar 10th, 2009 by mimi : MOONCHILD mimi
Plum_tea
My Serbian neighbour was concerned about my cough and cold.  Even though she doesn't speak English and i don't understand Serbian, we try to communicate as best we can.  I understood "chai", and the lemon from the squeezing motion.  She brought me 6 frozen purple plums in a styrofoam coffee cup.  "Chai, chai".

So, here is the finished product  - delicious Plum Tea.  Not only does it taste delicious, it looks delicious!  I was amazed to watch this beautiful colour appear - different shades of pink and golden pink as the 2 plums let their magic out.  I added a squeezed lemon wedge and some Australian eucalyptus honey.  It tastes great, and feels good going down.  Maybe you'd like to try it too.  Freeze some prune plums when they're in season.

1-Man Stimulus Package with $2 bills

Brewton pharmacist launches homegrown economic stimulus with $2 bills

Posted by Connie Baggett, Staff Reporter March 04, 2009 6:50 AM

Brewton Pharmacist Danny Cottrell inside The Medical Center Pharmacy Tuesday March 3, 2009 in Brewton, Ala.
Cottrell recently paid his employees a bonus in $2 bills to help local economy. The stipulation is that they should donate 15 percent to someone needy and spend all possible in local shops and businesses.

BREWTON -- A small-town pharmacist intrigued by the government's economic stimulus plan decided to launch his own version with $16,000 in $2 bills, and area stores have already felt the impact.

Danny Cottrell gave each of his full-time employees $700 and part-timers $300. He asked them to donate 15 percent to charity and spend the rest locally, particularly downtown, where store owners say that business has been lean.

"I wanted to do something for my employees, let them know our business is not in jeopardy, and for the local merchants," said Danny Cottrell, owner of The Medical Center Pharmacy with its main store in Brewton and a second in Atmore. "This seemed like a good way to do it."

Cottrell said he paid his employees with $2 bills so he and the rest of the Escambia County business community could see how the money circulates.

Before he explained the plan to his employees last week, Cottrell said, he couldn't resist creating a little suspense.

"Times are hard," he said, "and the downturn has hit us some. Employees start to worry if they will even have a job. So I called a meeting of the staff. One employee broke out in hives from the nerves. My partner, Tom Henderson, said he heard some employees talking about the meeting. They were scared to death."

Cottrell said he began the meeting as usual, encouraging workers to answer phones faster and serve customers better. Then he began passing out envelopes.

When workers saw the cash, some were so excited that they wept, he said.

"I was so worried, I made myself physically sick," said Lana Jackson. "But spending it has been fun. It feels like you are doing a good deed."

Carolyn Kennedy said she was so shocked she couldn't speak at first.

Workers are keeping a log of the stores that they visit, more than 65 at last count. Some have stopped in at stores they never tried before.

From the Winn-Dixie to the Peebles department store, merchants said the $2 bills have been noticed.

"I've had three customers this week come in and pay with $2 bills," said Candy Smith, owner of a clothing boutique downtown.

Sammy Weaver, owner of Weaver's in Brewton, said he appreciates Cottrell and his commitment to the town.

"The $2 bills make it easy to see where it's going, see how it turns over and generates tax revenue that helps our town and schools," said Weaver, whose store sells jewelry and clothing. "I plan to save up the bills that come in here and pay Danny my bill with them."

Some of the $2 bills have even circulated back to the pharmacy.

"It's not a huge amount of money," Cottrell said of his hometown stimulus package. "It would have a more noticeable impact if someone with more resources came up with a huge amount of money, but the times are tough."

Still, for the workers with the windfall, this is just more of their boss' big heart shining through, they said.

"I tell you, I love him like cooked food," said Bobbie Edwards.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I loved this story.  The idea is to keep the flow of money going.  The greedy people are hoarding it in offshore accounts and just aren't trickling it down to us working folks.  They aren't sharing the wealth.  I thought this was a thoughtful, loving thing to do to help the real people in his community.  Very hands on.  Brilliant!

I think Obama and Geitner could use this guy as an advisor.

What's the best thing about numbers?

Posted on Mar 14th, 2009 by mimi : MOONCHILD mimi
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 14, 2009:

Numbers
I don't like the exactness of numbers in math.
There is only one right answer, I hate that.

I don't like zero.  Like 4 x 0 = 0!  if you have 4 apples and multiply them by 0, you still have 4.  But I guess that's because the apples don't really exist, and so somebody thought we shouldn't say apples, but rather should say "x" or "y" because you can't mix apples and oranges (x + y)

My  high school algebra teacher said if I didn't like the math system, invent a new one.  I used to solve algebra problems by my own method.  Geometry didn't make any sense to me.  Why would I want to measure a triangle?  Nope, not even one side.

I read that some primitive cultures had no numbers higher than 3.  After 3 it was "lots".

Some numbers make people unhappy - like in the Olympics when participants are 2nd or 3rd.

Every family has one Counter - they count how many presents each of their brothers or sisters have under the tree,  who got more candy; they always think they are being gyped.

I really don't like numbers much as you can probably tell

How did you learn to swim?

Posted on Mar 16th, 2009 by mimi : MOONCHILD mimi
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 15, 2009:

Fear_of_water
I still don't know how to swim. Several times when I was young, the boys would hold my head under water and laugh.  Once I sat in a boat tied up to the dock, and the boys sunk it with me in it.  I became terried of water .I went for swimming lessons but hated the sound underwater. It terrified me.    When I was an adult, I went to a doctor who used hypnosis , and he helped me somewhat. to get rid of my fear of water (they use the same method, no matter what your fea/phobia is)

I took private swimming lessons for $30/hour and Just once, I swam across the pool in the shallow end.  But I really don't want to take my feet off the bottom and can't even float.  Float on my back?  I can't even think about it without revulsion.

Maybe I will  learn this year.  My daughter has a gorgeous pool with a woods behind it.  Only the squirrels and blue jays will see me.

My 3-year-old granddaughter, Gracie Carole Rose, laughed when i told her I couldn't swim.  "I'll teach you, mimi" she said.  She is a water baby and loves the water and can already swim. I wouldn't want to disappoint her if she was trying to teach me.  This could be very interesting. Maybe a breakthrough?
